Perm Tips

Prepping for a perm:
When you get a perm, you will want to make sure there aren't any sores or cuts on your scalp. If the perm solution gets in to a sore or cut it will cause a burn. You will also want to make sure to let your stylist know about any past experiences you've had with perms. For example, is your hair resistant to perms, or does it take a perm easily. This allows your stylist to get your perm right the first time.

Getting the perm:
When you go in to get a perm, it's best if you don't have any product on your hair. This just creates more work for your stylist. The stylish will clarify (without conditioner) your hair before a perm to remove any excess buildup. This helps your hair take to the perm well.

After the perm:
After you get a perm, you should not wash your hair for two days. This allows the perm to fully set. During this time, you may get it wet and add styling products, but no shampoo. You may have to stink for a couple of days, but the results will be worth it.

Styling your perm:
One of the best things about a perm is the ease of styling. All you have to do is add a bit of gel or mousse to wet hair. Blow dry your hair with a diffuser until it is about 80% dry, then let it air dry the rest of the way to avoid frizziness. Add a shine serum and your beautiful, curly hair is ready to go.
