Here are some tips for having healthy hair!
Everyone wants healthy hair right? Of Course! I would like to give some tips on helping your hair become more healthy.
*Washing your hair is a BIG step in health. There are so many products out there to chose from. Find one that you like and doesn't add buildup to your hair and scalp. If you have a normal scalp (not too oily or too dry) it is safe to wash your hair every other day. If you have a lot of oil, you will want to wash your hair everyday to help clean out the pours on your scalp so they don't become clogged. Also, when you go to sleep at night, the oil from your hair gets on your pillow then to your face from there and causes acne. Brushing your scalp also helps remove the dirt and oil from the pours. For dryhair and scalp, using a hydrating moisturizing shampoo is the best.
If you wash your hair every other day, I like this product from Bed Head-Spoil Me. It is a instant restyler & defrizzer. Brush your hair out and spray the Spoil me on your dry hair.
GETTING YOUR HAIR COLORED: Coloring your hair can be very damaging. Especially if you are wanting to go blond. For someone that has longer darker hair and wants to go blond all over. It will be a process. To make it the least damaging on your hair, plan on spending a couple trips to the salon. You will want to take it slow by getting lots of highlights (they might need to tone it), then you will go back and get more until your hair is the desired color. Protein packs( Found at Sally's Beauty Supply for less than a couple of bucks). It adds the protein back into your hair that coloring or perming takes out. You will want to wait a week or two after the service to do the protein treatment.
A product I really like that helps hydrate your hair is Pureology Hydra cure intense moisture hair masque. After you shampoo your hair, you comb the masque through your hair (a little goes a long way) and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse.
When you are styling your hair, choose a hairspray that right for your style. I use the natural hold hairsprays. They have a good hold but it doesn't feel like your hair is weighted down with hair spray. Backcombing-also known as ratting your hair- is not the best on your hair either. I can't say that I don't do it sometimes to add some height, but it does cause damage and breakage to your hair. Some things you can do to help add height to your hair without backcombing is:
Round brush your hair (It does take practice)-or elevating the roots with a flat brush while blow drying
Blow-drying your hair upside down
asking your hair stylist to texture your roots (under the top layer) to help add height
and using a good root lifter before blow drying your hair.
Here are a couple root lifters that I like
Pureology Root Lift Spray Mousse
Matrix Take Me Higher Root Riser
